Syllabi:

Syllabi for all the courses are framed by subject experts in the respective fields of studies and are approved by appropriate bodies of the university.

Mode of Instruction:

Unlike regular day time instruction in the college or university departments,these of campus distance learning programmes will be self placed and learner centred. It will essentially be based on the supply of reading material in self Learning Mode for home study by the learners duly supplemented by:

a) Face to face Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs)and Counselling.
b) Practical session wherever necessary.
c) Taking feedback from students through Assignments.
d) Arranging project work.

 

Assignments:

One of the teaching aids of ODL mode is assignment. Assignment on lessons/topiesAinits of study are submitted by the students to the councellors to get feedback of the progress of their learning on the basis of the study materials supplied.This will compensate for face to face interaction between teacher and students in the classroom environment. Students will be asked to send answers to these assignment to the respective study centres on time bound programme basis. However, as per the evaluation procedure to be followed for these courses,the marics thus awarded on the assignments will count towards the continuous evaluation of the students learning. Thus the verification of Assignment not only evaluates the students performance but also set learning path in the right direction.

Project Work:

Project work is an integral part of this system of education.This helps student to expand their Knowledge,acquired during the learning process. wherever necessary, student will be required to submit project work which will be duly evaluated and marked. Consequently,these marks may also count towards the continuous evaluation of their learning.

Practical Session:

In paper and subjects where practical training will form a part of curriculum,practical sessions will be duly arranged for students at the institutions identified by the University.

Medium of Instruction:

The medium of instruction will be english or Bengali or both.

Study Material:

Printed study materials on the courses as prepared by best available experts in the subjects are printed study materials on all the courses as prepared by best available experts in the subjects are supplied to the students for home study either hand through the study centres or by post wherever necessary.While these learning material should give the students the required academic guidance,they are advised to supplement their reading at home by thoroughly going through the prescribed texts and consulting the suggested reference works as far as possible.

Conduct of Examinations:

All axaminations will be conducted by the university under the over all control of the Department of controller of Examinations as per university rules provided that such examinations may be held at centres specified by the university under its overall supervision.

Degrees to be awarded by the University:

All degrees relevant to the course offered through this mode are duly instituted by the University of Kalyani.
