Department of Business Administration

The Department of Business Administration started the AICTE approved MBA course from the academic year 2001-02 on enhanced fee basis. For meeting the academic commitments in the best possible manner, the department is taking faculty support from other departments of the University. Services from experts in other academic institutions and corporate enterprises are also being utilized for running the course. It is to mention that the department has been able to provide Summer Placement for all the students of MBA Programme in renowned corporate houses like Wipro, ITC, Philips, Indian Oil, IBP, Emami, Nicco Group, Albert David, SPML, Simplex etc. Furthermore, all the successful students of the MBA Programme have found placements in different business organizations with respectable remuneration package.

The Department will offer Diploma in Healthcare and Hospital Management (DHHM) course from the academic year 2014-15 on enhanced fee basis. The course has been designed to train the students to become managers who will be able to deliver healthcare service efficiently, with cultural understanding of health and illness. The DHHM course is covered in one full academic year consisting of 2 semesters, which include theoretical papers, practical, seminars/case studies and summer internship.

The Department is also offering Ph.D programme in Business Administration.

5.    Seminar on ‘Investor Awareness’ in collaboration with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Eastern India Regional Office (EIRO) and under the sponsorship of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India held on 11 March, 2014.

Degree & Course offered:

  •     Master of Business Administration(MBA) - two-year (4 semesters) programme.
  •     Diploma in Healthcare and Hospital Management(DHHM) – one-year (2 semesters) programme.
  •     Ph.D. – According to UGC Norms.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

  •     MBA: Graduate in Science/Arts/Commerce or Graduate in Management/Engineering or 5 years Law.
  •     DHHM:Graduate in any discipline.
  •     Ph. D: As mentioned in the Ph.D Regulations of University of Kalyani.

Entrance Examination:

  •     MBA: Through CMAT/MAT/CAT/JEMAT Examination followed by Personal Interview and Group Discussion.
  •     DHHM: Written test conducted by the Department of Business Administration, Kalyani University followed by Personal Interview and Group Discussion.
  •     Ph. D: NET/SLET/KURET followed by Personal Interview.

  •     DHHM: 15(Reservation as per the Rules)
  •     Ph. D: Depends on number of vacancies.

Course Fees :

  •     MBA: Rs. 35,000/- per year for Indian Nationals and US $ 3000/- for Foreign candidates.
  •     DHHM: Rs.50,000, Payable at the time of Admission.
  •     Ph. D: As per University rules.

 Note: For both the ProgrammesGrading System with appropriate credit point for each subject is followed.

Ph. D : Coursework in Ph.D under new regulations was started from 2010 following UGC guidelines. The coursework is of one semester (or 6 month) duration. Details may be obtained from the office/ Head of the department.
