Duration and Pattern
The DODL follows the same courses of studies as followed for the regular courses in the University. The duration of P.G. Courses is of two years divided in Part-I and Part-II. The students of this Mode appear at the separate examination and obtain the same Degree of the University.

N.B. M.A. Degree holder in a particular subject is not permitted to enroll on the same subject.
Other Information
- Seats may be restricted by the DODL office and admission will be made on first come first serve basis.
- Age: There is no age bar for admission.
- The examination of M.A. degree will be taken in two parts: Part I and Part II each after completion of one academic year and held at the end of such academic year. The examination for P.G. Diploma courses will be held at the end of the academic session for such course. All other terms and condition should be per se the rules and regulation of the University of Kalyani as regards minimum qualifying marks in aggregate both of Part I and Part II stages separately.
- Any change of address and telephone number during the period of study should instantly be bought to the notice of DODL office in writing.
- Fees of any kind once deposit will not be refunded.
- Change of course &/or subject is not permissible after admission.
Steps of Admission Procedure
- Prospectus-cum-Application Form is to collected first.
- Prescribed application form, deposit Challan duly prenumbered for remittance of course fee in the State Bank of India, Kalyani Branch at Kalyani, Identity card and Enrolment Form are to be filed up duly and submitted in the DODL office along with attested copy of mark sheet of all previous examination passed, proof of date of birth and Registration Certificate of the University last attended (all original certificates must be produced for verification), Four stamp size (colour) recent photographs, three self addressed cloth lined standard envelops are to be submitted along with the application form.
- After verification in the DODL office the candidate is required to make payment of the course fee and other fees as prescribed in the Fe Structure table through deposit challan in the State Bank Of India, Kalyani Branch. The fees should be deposited in cash or in Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of ‘Director of Open & Distance Learning, University of Kalyani’ payable at Kalyani.
- On payment of course fee and other fees the candidate is required to submit the duly checked/verified application form along with deposit challan issued by the above bank at DODL office on that day for issuance of enrolment certificate and other materials.
- Admission is liable to be cancelled at any stage during the course of study on grounds of non-fulfillment of any eligibility criterion revealed through scrutiny, suppression of facts, falsification, misconduct, adoption of unfair means in examination, indiscipline and violation of rules/regulation as specified by the DODL office.

Duplicate Issue Fee

In case of loss of Study Materials fresh Study Materials can be purchased by paying Rs. 200/- for each paper.
Migration and Registration of Other University Student
Students from other University already admitted to the M.A. Course positively get themselves registered under this University before admission to the Part-II course & P.G. Diploma course within three months from the commencement of the course by submitting the Migration Certificate, failing which they will not be allowed to sit for the examination and their admission may be cancelled.

Study Materials
Study Materials for the course will be supplied by DODL office from time to time in Module / Lesson / Block Forms.
Personal Contact Programmes
Strictly need based Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) may be arranged by the DODL office to principally facilitate face-to-face interaction between students and our subject teachers who give due academic counseling to the students. These face to face contact sessions will be arranged centrally at Kalyani. The duration of these sessions may very from subject to subject. Students will be duly informed to the formalities to be completed by them and each student will be required to attend 60% of the total PCPs held.
Examination Prescribed for the Courses Offered
There will be two Examinations: M.A. Part-I Examination at the end of the first year and M.A. Part-II at the end of the second year and for P.G. Diploma Courses at the end of session.
Only those who fulfill all requirements and attendance in PCPs will be eligible to sit for the examination of M.A. Part-I or M.A. Part-II and P.G. Diploma Courses.
Accordingly Admit Card will be issued subject to depositions of examination fees. Due notification will be made for depositing examination fees and collection of admit card.
There will be no provision for Post Publication review/ re-examination/ scrutiny in all such examinations.
Result will ordinarily be published within two months from the completion of the examinations. Candidates securing 40% marks or more but less than 60% on aggregate will be placed in the Second Class, while those with 60% marks or more in aggregate will be placed in the First Class. Candidates unable to secure Qualifying marks prescribed in the Table below in each part will be considered as unsuccessful.

Renewal / Continuation of Candidature (Enrollment)
Candidates of M.A. Part-I, M.A. Part-II and P.G. Diploma does not appear at the examination or having appeared at the examination failed to qualify, will have to renew their candidature by filling up renewal form and paying prescribed fees for the purpose other candidate will. A candidate will get a maximum of three chances to pass the M.A. examination, Part-I and Part-II taken together, Within four years from his/her enrolment at the first year class of the course.
If any candidate fails to renew his/her candidature as per procedure mentioned above, his/her enrolment will be cancelled from the register of the DODL office.
