Cultural Activities

         
 


Every year our university organizes and participates in various cultural activities on the following events under active guidance of the students’ Welfare Department :

b) Classical Instrumental Solo (Percussion), c) Classical Instrumental Solo ( Non Percussion), d) Semi Classical Vocal (Hindustani or Karnatak) , e) Light Vocal ( Indian ), f) Western Vocal (Solo), g) Group song (Indian ), h) Group Song (Western), i) Folk- Orchestra

a) Folk / Tribal Dance, b) Classical Dance

(iii) Literary
a) Quiz ,b) Elocution, c) Debate, d) Poetry Recitation
(iv) Theatre

a) One Act Play, b) Skit, c) Mime, d) Mimicry

(v) Fine Arts
a) On the Spot Painting, b) Collage, c ) Poster Making,
d) Clay Modelling, e) Cartooning, f) Rangoli, g) Installation etc.
 
 

These cultural activities are being organized through the following four stages at our University. A good number of students participate in these cultural competitions every year and they have secured merit prizes at zonal, National and even International level.

            i) Inter College and Inter Department competitions.
            ii) ZonalInterUniversity competition.
            iii) National Inter university Competition,
            iv) lntenational InterUniversity competition.

1) Inter College and University Dept Cultural Competition

Inter College and PG Department cultural Competitions are being organized each year in Song & Music, Dance, Drama, Fire Arts and Library Events. About 300 students (competitors) from different College and PG/UG Depts have been participated in about 25 events.

 

 
 

2) Inter University East zone Youth Festival, organised by the AIU and Ministry of Youth Affairs

As per AIU norms every year a team of 40 students has been participating in about 25 events of the East Zone Youth Festivals held at different Universities and have got several merit prizes
Our University has also organized East Zone Festival for two times on 1996 and 2003.

3) Inter University National Youth Festival organized by AIU & Ministry of Youth Affairs, New Delhi.

A team of 10 to 15 participarts (prize holders of zonel level) have participated in the National Youth Festival in different Cultural Event.

4) International Youth Festival, organized by AIU & Ministry Youth Affairs


National Prize holder students of Youth Festival from our University had also been participated in International youth Festival during 2006.

5) Chattra Utsab

Each year Students’ Union have been organizing Chattra Utsab. They have organized cultural comptition on the above noted events and prizes are given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders to encourage them. This competition are generally organised during February-March.

6) Nabin Baron Utsab (Freshers’ Welcome)

Students’ Union also organises Nabin Barron Utsab each year during september/october. New students performed various cultural activited and new talented students are being scarched out during these festival.

7) Reunion & Annual Function

Each of 27 PG/HG departments of our University have been organizing Reunion & Annual function each year separately (in 27 functions). Students and ex-students of the concurned Dept. participate and perform cultural events during this festival.

8) Hall Day Function

Each of nine hostels of our University have been observing Hall Day Function in their hostels for a long time. Boarders of concerned hostel perform their cultural excellence Ex-students of the University and the ex-boards are also assembled during the Hall Day Festival and perform cultural events.

 

 
   

Youth Parliament Competition

We have been organizing Youth Parliament competition at our University every year. Our students have secured 1st prize at zonal level and have been selected for participating in the National Youth Parliament Competition, organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India. Our students have also participated in both Group level and National level comptitions and won the merit prizes both of Group level and National level.

Health Awareness Programme

To arouse health awareness among the students, we organize following Programmes :

        i)     Blood Donation Camp : Students’ Union and boarders of different halls & hostels of the University organize blood donation camps at different halls and hostels and at the administrative building of the University. About 400 units of blood have been donating by our students every year. A good number of students, research scholars, and even employees, teachers and officers of the University and the local people also donate their blood every year.

       ii)     Awareness activities on HIV / AIDS: We have been organizing various programmes for arousing awareness about HIV / AIDS among the students, as well as among the local people through Essay Competition, Poster Competitions, Theatre Competition on HIV / AIDS, rally on AIDS, Quiz Competitions , Seminar, Symposia and various HIV/ AIDS related lectures.
              During 2005 we had organized the East Zone Theatre festival on HIV / AIDS. Seven Universities from different states of Eastern India participated in the said festival on HIV / AIDS. Our University stood first in the East Zone and participated in the National Competition.
