Centre for Information Resource Management (CIRM)

     
 

The Internet Centre was established in the year of 2002 with the monetary help from the MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) fund of the Hon'ble Rajya Sabha Member Prof. Bharati Roy, the noted Academician. The Centre was inaugurated by Prof. Roy in the presence of our Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Saha on June 13, 2002.The Executive Council in its 8th meeting of the 6th Executive Council held on 22nd March 2007 approved of the renaming of the "Internet Centre" as "Centre for Information Resource Management (CIRM)" . The newly CIRM was Inaugurated by Hon'ble Prof Debesh Das, Minister-in-Charge, Department of Information Technology, West Bengal in the presence of our Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof A.K.Das university of kalyani  on December 03,2007.

At the CIRM, there are 35 terminals are connected under LAN and the 1MBPS leased line internet service  provided by the BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited), India. The teachers, scholars, students, officers and staffs of the University can access to this centralized facility. The Centre remains open from 10:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. on all working days.    
     

 
 
 


Internet connectivity
:  The CIRM is also providing the Internet facility on round the clock basis to all users in the university including teaching, administrative staff and  research scholars, students. The internet facility is being provided through a 1:1- 2 Mbps Leased line from ERNET India and 1:1- 1 Mbps Leased line from BSNL.

 
 






 



Management Information System (MIS-KALYANI)
 

Kalyani MIS comprises the following modules:
1. Academic module

a. Student Management

  • Stream wise seat availability information.
  • Past academic information of the students.
  • Merit list publication.
  • New admission according to merit list.
  • Department wise student enrollment and auto assigning of session/Class/Subject/Section/Roll. Number
  • Stream wise –UG/PG/BT/B.Ed/PHD--- Admission and Pass out information.
  • List of migrate and drop out candidates.
  • Category wise student list( General/SC/ST/Ph.Handicapped etc.)
  • Admitted, appeared and passed out student list- Department wise.
  • Research fellow information.


    b. Fees Collection

  • Department wise student fee collection as per norms.
  • List of student availing the facility of Half/Full free of fees.
  • List of student availing the facility of Scholarship.
  • Department wise fess collection according to fees type.
  • Auto late payment fees calculation.
  • Correction of Fees slip.
 
 


2. Finance & Accounting Module

  • Monitor financial status and instant cash in hand.
  • Daybook(Cash Book & Bank Book) summarized & detailed.
  • Net fund position according to all transaction according to Category/Department and Designation
  • Department wise annul budget fixation and expenditure analysis.
  • General Ledger summarized and details.
  • Trial balance with group and without group.
  • Profit &Loss account and Balance sheet generation.
  • Party and head wise payment list through Cheques/Draft mode.
  • Bank reconciliation statement.
  • Cash and Bank detailed transaction report.
  • Purchase daybook.
  • Leave calculation of all Teachers/Officers/Non-teaching Staff.

Website Development/Maintenance :
The University website  maintained and developed under the supervision of  System-in-Charge,CIRM. 

Campus Networking :
The UGC visiting team, while visiting the University for 10th plan allocation, was so satisfied with the functioning of the Centre that according to its recommendation, the UGC sanctioned Rs. 15 Lakhs for the Centre for further development of internet facility of the University. With this money, the University-Campus-Networking (connecting different academic and administrative departments through fiber-optic cabling) was planned and ordered to 'Electronic Corporation of India Ltd. (A Govt. of India undertaking)' for execution. The Campus-Networking facility was commissioned in July, 2004.

 
 












CIRM is giving the following services:

1.Providing Central Computing facility to all users of the University.

2. University Website development & maintenance.

3.Providing   Management Information System ( MIS) services to  all sectors of  the university.

4. IT(Information Technology) based training programmer to all types of users like in-house staff, research scholars, teachers,     administrative staff and so on.

5. Software Development (KALYANI MIS) according to the need of the University.

6. Organizing IT based Conference/Seminar/Workshop time-to-time.

7. Management of University campus LAN with Internet and intranet.

8. Monitoring and uploading the University website.

9. Developing and maintaining comprehensive MIS system of our University.

10. E-mail facility and Internet accessibility.

11. Providing support service to the Central Library of the University, Digitization of their housekeeping and information retrieving functions.

12. Development of University based institutional digital repository in collaboration with Central Library to facilitate the dissemination of digital materials created by the University and its community members.

13. Providing Internet facility for academic/research purpose to our students, research
scholars, and teachers and staffs.
